We’ve just been in the Philippines for 2 weeks completing our biggest clean water project! Over 3 separate locations spread across all kinds of different environments. We implemented 645 filters, impacting 17,530individuals Providing much-needed clean water access.
Kiangan is located in the province of Ifugao with a population of 17, 691.
The residents of this area were relying on extremely contaminated water sources for their drinking water. With the help from W4W, we have implemented 160 filters, providing 960 households and 4,385 individuals access to clean water.
The typhoon affected a total of 10.8 million people calling for urgent needs of food and non-food items (NFIs), clean water and sanitation facilities, shelter, hygiene kits, medical supplies and restoration of livelihoods.
For PARGO Clean Water Project #7 the PARGO team returned to Isla Verde on a monitoring trip for the communities served in Project #4.
When nearby villages heard of the return there were multiple requests for the same project to be implemented and we were able to expand the impact to two more communities that were relying on untreated springs and groundwater for their water needs.
PARGO Clean Water Project #5 took us high into the mountains of Brooke’s Point, home to Palaw’ans, an ethnic group that primarily engages in subsistence rice farming, and hunting-gather practices.
These communities are primarily relying on untreated water sources including streams, rivers and springs which has been identified as the root cause of many illnesses with a days hike to the lowlands.
